* Entrance Examination for Overseas Applicants for the Full-time Degree Course

The applicants for the Academic year 2007 must take an entrance examination at Ueno Gakuen University in Tokyo. (There are also AO Entrance Examination and the Recommendation Entrance Examination, but these are suitable for Japanese nationals or residents in Japan).

1. Interview with the President
2. General Essay
3. Music Theory
4. Solfege (either Sight-singing or Music Dictation exam): Except Music Research Course candidates
5. Practical Skills in Primary Instrument/Vocal Music: Except Music Research Course candidates
6. Practical Skills in Secondary Instrument
Soloist/Instrumental Music/Vocal Music Course candidates:
All candidates, except who take the Primary Instrument Exam in keyboard instruments or guitar, must take a piano exam.
Music Research Course
Candidates must choose from one of the following instruments: piano, violin, harp, flute, organ, harpsichord, viola da gamba, lute, or recorder.
7. English Test for Musicology: Musicology (Music Research Course) candidates only
8. Music Education Essay: Music Education (Music Research Course) candidates only
9. Interview with the Director of Music Research Course: Music Research Course candidates only.
